As the record industry's most innovative and influential executive, Clive Davis has had a profound effect on the world of music spanning over 50 years. He has earned four Grammys in his role as Album Producer, has received the Grammy Trustees Lifetime Achievement Award, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000, and, in 2010, The Recording Academy named The Grammy Museum theatre in his honor. In April 2024, Davis and his illustrious music career were celebrated at Carnegie Hall with The New York Pops 41st Birthday Gala, The Soundtrack of Our Lives: A Tribute to the Legendary Clive Davis. The star-studded evening featured memorable performances by music legends and contemporary stars including Dionne Warwick, Carlos Santana, Barry Manilow, Babyface, Busta Rhymes, Toni Braxton, John Mellencamp, Deborah Cox and more. In February 2025, Davis also celebrated another major career milestone moment with the 50th anniversary of his legendary star-studded annual Pre-Grammy Gala.
Teyana Taylor
Innovator Award
After pivoting from a successful music run, the R&B superstar is now embarking on a creative renaissance, adding actress, producer, director, choreographer and stylist credits to her incredible career. In 2017, Teyana launched her all-female production company The Aunties, a creative collective of women that create dope visuals. With The Aunties, Teyana self-directed videos for her second album, including, “WTP,” the RIAA platinum-certified single “Gonna Love Me,” and recently, gold- selling single “Issues/Hold On,” and every video in conjunction with her third studio album. This led to Teyana winning Director of the Year at the BET Awards in 2020 - up against industry heavyweights such as Benny Boom and Dave Meyers. Teyana has also directed videos for her peers like T.I. (“You”), Monica (“Commitment”), Wale (“Love”...Her Fault featuring Bryson Tiller), Lil Duval (“Pull Up” featuring Ty Dolla $ign) with icons like Ms. Lauryn Hill and Elton John praising her creative moves. After much success, in 2021, Teyana and The Aunties expanded to a full-service company where they now offer musical direction, choreography, production, visual content, wardrobe, stage presence and more services. Since then, Teyana has worked with music artists like Latto and Lil Baby on their musical and creative direction and has styled stars like Usher.

A Flea Theater Production Written and Directed by Zora Howard
HANG TIME explores the interiority of Black men in America, and the ways in which their humanity can triumph over the brutality that has been brought against them.
Three men chew the fat under an old, wide tree. In HANG TIME, we peek into the interiority – the great loves and bitter blues – of Black men in America. Setting the romantic and the macabre in sharp relief, HANG TIME invites the viewer to envisage the living Black body triumphant over the legacy of violence that it holds.
Experience this searing theatrical work written and directed by Harlem-bred Pulitzer Prize Finalist Zora Howard in community and kinship at The Apollo Stages at The Victoria.
“A startling and stunning tableau…an absolutely heart wrenching and hauntingly beautiful experience” – The Front Row Center
“A bruising statement about the systemized dehumanization of Black men... a stunning picture of the ‘strange fruit’ that Billie Holiday sang about, of Black bodies swinging from trees... The writing is bleak and colorful and gorgeous enough for poetry.” – Lighting & Sound America
This special School Day Live presentation of The Flea’s HANG TIME brings high school students together to explore the interiority of Black men in America.
In HANG TIME, we peek into the interiority – the great loves and bitter blues – of Black men in America. Blood is a young man with dreams of traveling and seeing the world, while Slim, the middle-aged trickster, brings humor and hard-earned wisdom from life as a rolling stone. Bird, the eldest, watches carefully, grounding the others with quiet authority amid their unpredictable circumstances. Their banter, songs, and even arguments offer solace and distraction, all while the shadow of a certain end lingers above them.
Setting the romantic and the macabre in sharp relief, HANG TIME invites the viewer to envisage the living Black body triumphant over the legacy of violence that it holds.
Following the performance, students and faculty are invited to stay for a post-show talkback.
