The Apollo Theater presents
WOW - Women of the World Festival
In Partnership with the WOW Foundation
March 12 - 17, 2019
Performances, Conversation, Activism
WOW Festival celebrates the power of women and girls from Harlem and around the world. At WOW, we’ll unite and explore a variety of issues that affect women across cultural and social boundaries. Stories will be shared, feelings vented, fun had, minds influenced and hearts expanded. The Apollo Theater is proud to be WOW’s New York home and its programming centers on issues and topics of interest to women of color.
The Wow Festival features workshops, activities, programming, and performances with artists, community leaders, writers, thinkers, activists, and leaders exploring a variety of issues across cultural, civic, and social boundaries with a focus on empowerment and activism. Participants include Educator and Activist Angela Davis; Musician Alice Smith; Finance Expert Suze Orman; White House Correspondent April Ryan; Poet Nikki Giovanni and more.
We join WOW Festivals taking place in more than 54 cities on five continents to speak with one voice about our many challenges and obstacles, triumphs and achievements. We are rooted locally with hands outstretched around the planet to tell our own stories with truth and grace, passion and power.
