Apollo and Harlem: Teaching History Through the Lens of Arts and Entertainment

Thursday, June 4 | 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM

$15 per person (includes workshop, light refreshments, and all materials)

Educators will learn about many of the theaters that were in close proximity to the Apollo in the early 20th century. A walking tour, discussion, and hearing stories of Harlem’s historic theaters will inform our understanding of life in Harlem during the early part of the 20th century. Through active workshops, present day contrasts and comparisons will be made as we explore the impact that entertainment, arts and/or cultural venues have on communities.
