Join The Apollo and the Black theater community on Monday, January 20th, 2025 for a FREE staged reading of Jordan E. Cooper’s six-time Tony nominated play, Ain’t No Mo'. Featuring the original Broadway cast with direction by Stevie Walker-Webb, this reading is a community call to action and a moment to lean in to our collective work of championing arts and culture with renewed vigor.

Ain’t No Mo' is a poignant satire set in an alternate present where the United States government has put forward a program to buy every Black person in America, who wishes, a one-way ticket to Africa. Following the reading, stay for a post-show talkback and community call to action. Space is limited and seating is first come, first served. RSVP to reserve your ticket.

This event is currently SOLD OUT. Seating is general admission and first come, first served. You must show your e-ticket at check-in. Doors open at 6:30 PM. Tickets not scanned or picked up from the box office by 7PM on the day of the performance will be released to patrons on the waitlist.

Accessible Seating
The Apollo’s Historic Theater has 12 wheelchair seating locations available for every show, all on the Orchestra seating level. Tickets for wheelchair seating locations can be purchased at The Apollo Theater box office or on Ticketmaster.

Four wheelchair seating locations will be reserved until the day of each performance.Each seating level is accessible via the elevator inside The Apollo’s Historic Theater. Guests should be aware of the small steps leading toward the Mezzanine and Balcony seating levels. Depending on the guest’s ticket location for these two levels, additional walking may be required. If guests are not able to travel up and down steps, tickets for events should be purchased for the Orchestra level.

Victoria Theater 1 is a 199-seat flexible black box theater that can be transformed into a myriad of configurations and styles. It features an intimate lounge-like space that is ideal for stage productions, concerts, panel discussions, commercial shoots and private functions.
JONELLE PROCOPE THEATER

The Jonelle Procope Theater, named in honor of the former Apollo President/CEO, is a 99-seat flexible black box theater that can be transformed into a myriad of configurations and styles. It features an intimate lounge-like space that is ideal for intimate concerts, panel conversations, commercial shoots, private functions, exhibits, or installations.

Presented in partnership with Bob Sumner (producer of Def Comedy Jam, creator of Laff Mobb on Aspire), the Apollo Comedy Club celebrates these rich comedic roots with an evening of comedy on the Apollo’s Stages at the Victoria to serve as a late-night hotspot featuring the best emerging talent in comedy today.

PitchBLACK Awards Ceremony

The PitchBLACK Awards Ceremony is Black Public Media’s signature celebration honoring visionary media makers dedicated to telling stories about the global Black experience. Heralded as an event where industry leaders discover new talent, PitchBLACK also features inspiring content, special guest appearances, and the presentation of funding awards to winning creators. 

This year, Black Public Media continues its tradition of celebrating excellence with a special tribute to the 2025 BPM Trailblazer, Lillian E. Benson, an Emmy-nominated and Peabody award-winning editor and the first woman of African American descent invited to join American Cinema Editors (ACE). The evening opens with a networking reception, transitions to the awards ceremony, and culminates in a lively afterparty.

Luenell: The Original Bad Girl Of Comedy Live At The Apollo on May 16, 2025

Luenell, the “Original Bad Girl of Comedy,” has thrilled audiences for over 30 years with her bold humor and infectious energy. Born in Arkansas and raised in Oakland, she is currently headlining her Fresh Out of Favors comedy tour and holding a residency at Jimmy Kimmel’s Comedy Club in Las Vegas. Luenell’s Netflix special, Town Business, is executive produced by Dave Chappelle and directed by Stan Lathan. Her breakout role in Borat introduced her to a global audience, and she’s since appeared in major films like Coming 2 America, Dolemite Is My Name, and A Star is Born. On television, Luenell has been featured in Hacks, The Last O.G., It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and more. She also appears in the Amazon Prime series Phat Tuesdays, celebrating the iconic comedy showcase that launched the careers of Black comedians. Luenell’s comedy CD Luenell Live: I Only Drink at Work is available on digital platforms.
