With this concert he brings his unmistakable voice to audiences in a special way - sharing some of his holiday favorites and best hits on the world famous Apollo stage.
Ellington at Christmas: Nutcracker Suite

For a twist on a seasonal classic and true holiday joy, nothing beats Duke Ellington’s Nutcracker Suite. Ellington and Billy Strayhorn infused the legendary Tchaikovsky score with swinging brass, colorful solos and jumpin’ jazz melodies. The second half of the program, Ellington’s wonderful Sacred Music, is serious and swinging, reverent and hip. Rarely performed live in New York, this Apollo exclusive, narrated by Keith David, features the 16-piece David Berger Jazz Orchestra, the Abyssinian Baptist Church Choir, the soaring voices of Lizz Wright and Priscilla Baskerville, and tap master Savion Glover along with the students from the Dance Theatre of Harlem School.
Coca-Cola Winter Wonderland

The Apollo Theater and Coca-Cola bring the magic of the holiday season to Harlem when the Coca-Cola Winter Wonderland unfolds on 125th Street in front of the Apollo Theater, under the twinkling lights of the famous marquee. Bring the family and have your picture taken with Santa while enjoying some of New York City’s best choirs at this FREE event.
Amateur Night Holiday Special with Guest Host Bow Wow

The Apollo’s Kwanzaa Celebration is a joyful evening of dance and music honoring the principles of Kwanzaa. This annual event features the renowned Abdel Salaam’s Forces of Nature Dance Theatre and other special guests.
