The Apollo Spring Gala is a spectacular night when New York City celebrates the iconic popular performers who have become Apollo Legends. In past years honorees have included Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Gladys Knight, Aretha Franklin, Quincy Jones, Lionel Richie, Patti LaBelle, Michael Jackson among others.

This year, Grammy winning R&B superstars Mary J. Blige and Patti LaBelle take to the Apollo stage alongside a talented cast of performers - all in salute to the incomparable Chaka Khan.

Known as the "Queen of Funk-Soul," Chaka Khan's musical career spans four decades during which she has earned 22 Grammy nominations and 10 wins. During the 8th Annual Apollo Spring Gala Ms. Khan will be inducted into the Apollo Hall of Fame.

Also scheduled to appear at the concert and awards ceremony are Emmy award-winning actress Sarah Jessica Parker and Tony award winner Jennifer Holliday with more to come.

Each year the event, which attracts many of the hottest contemporary artists and leaders in media and entertainment such as Prince, Chris Tucker, Jamie Foxx, Mariah Carey, and Angela Bassett is New York's hottest night out that has everyone wondering who will be on the legendary Apollo stage and red carpet.

The Apollo Theater is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization.  Proceeds from this event will benefit the full range of the Apollo’s year-round activities including performing arts presentations, family and educational programs, and the development of new work through commissions to emerging artists.
