James Brown: Get on the Good Foot, A Celebration in Dance
GET ON THE GOOD FOOT, A CELEBRATION IN DANCE
James Brown has been an inspiration for music and dance artists on the dance floor, on the popular stage, in the clubs of the hip-hop generation and the performance venues of modern dance. In Get On The Good Foot, the collaborating artists celebrate James Brown’s rhythmic and soulful music, electric and high-energy dance, and flamboyant dress. Brown’s peak music period in the 1960’s and 1970’s influenced these artists and personally connected them to the man, his music and his message. Using a mix of dance and music styles they reflect on the many sides of James Brown - powerful and tender, his joy and purpose, political activism and black pride, humor, and the ecstasy in his work.
