Brooklyn Virtuoso is comprised of nine young violinists who have been playing together since kindergarten. These days, the eight year olds attend different schools. They credit Lucy Joy, their music director, for giving them the encouragement to practice and the motivation to stay together as a group. The girls look forward to appearing at Amateur Night in the “Stars of Tomorrow” segment.

Breakin' Convention

It's a hip hop takeover at the Apollo June 13-16 as 100 dancers from around the globe gather onstage, under the marquee, all through the building during a jam-packed 4-day weekend of hip hop dance theater shows, DJ's spinning, live graffiti art, film clips and special tributes to hip hop dance icons, family workshops and free events. The Apollo's annual season is made possible by lead support from The Coca-Cola Company, JPMorgan Chase & Co., The Parsons Family Foundation, the Ronald O. Perelman Family Foundation, the Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone, Reginald Van Lee New Works Fund, the Ford Foundation Fund for Global Programs, Time Warner Inc., Bloomberg Philanthropies, JoAnn Price, Folonari Wines, the Apollo Board of Directors and many other generous donors.
