Davi Vieira

Davi Vieira's music is a modern exploration of the sound of Bahia, Brazil -a foray into a part of Brazilian Music and Culture that is unique to Salvador and its universally distinct African Rooted traditions.

Following in the footsteps of greats like Ilê Aiyê, Timbalada, Olodum and Gilberto Gil, Davi approaches this musical legacy as both a composer and performer with a new voice and a new sound, "Hip Hop Axe" bringing 500 years of tradition to a contemporary, urban landscape.

His latest release, Ghetto Linha 8 expounds rhythms that are native to the Brazilian Northern state of Bahia -while his vocal performances are a modern interpretation of Brazilian song styling via the prism that is New York City. As Rapper as a singer, Davi possesses a distinctly unique voice and style born from being a Brazilian musician living and creating in NYC.

As a percussionist and vocalist Davi has contributed to recordings and/or toured live with such great artists as Sergio Mendes, Angelique Kidjo, Carlinhos Brown, Bebel Gilberto, Forro in the Dark, Steve Earl, Talib Kweli, Sun Ra, Yerba Buena,  Me'Shell Ndege'Ocello, David Byrne and was co founder of Brazil's MD MCs  as well as a member of the Off-Broadway show STOMP for ten years.
