Steve Wallace
Apollo Music Café, January 14, 2012. Skilled in singing and composing everything from classical to hip-hop, Steve has sung the lead role in eight operas, toured worldwide, and composed a 3-act opera, a piano sonata, and 10 classical art songs. He has worked with written and/or produced music for Ledisi, Ghostface Killah, De La Soul, BET's Harlem Heights, NBC's Phenomenon, MTV's Hood Fab, and Dj Spinna as well as countless other up and coming artists.
In November 2008, he premiered and conducted his Symphony #1 in G at his wedding in honor of his wife, entitled "Symphony Di Matrimonia." Steve also produced the song "Be A Humanitarian," performed as a fundraiser for Haitian Earthquake relief in 2009. The song was chosen to represent the United Nation's "Humanitarian Day." Steve has shared the stage with Common, Talib Kweli, Robin Thicke, Leon Ware, and Avant.
Steve receives numerous accolades from his peers and musical legends. Ramsey Lewis proclaimed "Steve Wallace... you're a bad man!" He is a critical darling of RollingOut Magazine, and the top searched soul music site on the web, SoulTracks.com. A dynamic vocal coach, energetic band leader, brilliant composer, and dazzling producer, Mr. Wallace has been teaching voice and music in various styles for over a decade and has been a faculty member at the Brooklyn Music School and Geoffrey Canada's Harlem Children's Zone.
