Tess
Apollo Music Cafe, March 7, 2011. Tess (The Young Diva) got her nickname not due to a bad attitude, but because of her aggressive creativity combined with her once-raw, now-polished talent and undeniable sex appeal. Simply put, Tess's goal is to redefine Rhythm and Blues.
Writing and performing her own music, Tess rejects the cookie cutter sounds that have flooded the R&B scene and instead incorporates Rock, Hip Hop, and soul, tapping into her Latin roots to interpret the most powerful elements of each.
A New York native, her internal Hip Hop shows itself on the freestyles she records for DJs across the world, including NYC’s own DJ Camilo. Though she admits to being a perfectionist who often wants to go back and edit songs, Tess (The Young Diva) has managed to get several promotional songs aired on New York’s Hot 97 FM radio station over the past year and has toured the world with artists like Musiq Soulchild, Deemi, JT Taylor (of Kool and the Gang), and Atlantic Star.
As homage to her love of timeless music The Young Diva has recently released her EP with super producer DJ Static called Tess Goes Jodeci, now available for free download.
